Shopping for a Carseat

Good Morning Everyone!

We did a little clothing shopping for Miss Peanut over the weekend and I must say, this little girl has some CUTE clothes for the upcoming warm weather!

On the http://www.carters.com/ website, this pretty little turquoise dress lists for $12.00.  We found the exact same one at Sam's Club for $7!!!  We got a few other deals like this at Target.  It pays to shop around!
We are currently in the market for a new carseat.  She is just getting so tall for her infant seat and heartbreaking as it is, she's getting older/bigger and needs a stage 2 carseat.

Something of interest...these range in price from around $40 to over $500!!!

This one goes for a whopping $539.99 on Amazon.com!!!  C'mon!!!  My first car wasn't even that much!

Now, if we opt to purchase one of the pocket-friendly models, does it mean our baby's safety is less important than babies who get the Cadillac versions?  I think not.  Parents of babies in carseats (and parents-to-be)...I've read reviews galore on various carseats and I can assure you:

THE LESS EXPENSIVE ONES ARE JUST AS SAFE.

I actually found a couple of mid-range seats that I really love.  I'll show you what we bought when we make up our minds!

Have a great day!

She learned how to clap her hands!!!
Her current "smile"...she's trying to please Mama, but she's also biting down on her gums...

We Have Teeth!!!

Good Morning Everyone!

Last night, we discovered something very exciting...Peanut's bottom teeth finally broke through!!!  Yep, just shy of 9 months old, she got her first teeth.

We've been checking for teeth daily and last night, I gave her a drink of my water and I heard, "CLINK, CLINK" on the glass.  Sure enough, there they were!  We've waited a long time for these pretty little pearls!!!  YAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!

Guess what Baby Braelyn is getting...
Have a great day!!!

Num, Num, Num!!!

Happy Friday!!!

Another milestone and more cuteness!!!

Last night at dinner, Peanut was in her highchair, waiting to take the first bite of her pears.  After she took that first bite, she said, "Num, num, num!"

I almost keeled over from cute overload.  What a good girl!!!

Have a great weekend!!!

"Big Girl" Bathtub

Good Morning Everyone!

Sorry I haven't written in a few days...sometimes I get so busy with everything else that I forget to post!  I will try to post daily from now on.

While Christmas shopping last month, we found this massive baby/toddler bathtub at Toys 'R Us.  Chris found it, to be exact.  When he lifted it up and showed me, I thought...oh my gosh, I could fit in that thing!  Her other baby tub was getting way to small.  Her little legs were almost dangling over the darn thing.

I was resigned to the fact that we would just have to start giving her baths in our big, adult tub.  I didn't like the idea at all.  It was more evidence that my baby was growing much too quickly and would be leaving for college in no time at all.

Chris was very proud of himself for finding this massive baby tub.  I was pleased that he put it in the cart immediately.

Little did I know how much I would like this thing.  She has so much room in it and looks so tiny sitting in that big tub....and I can still bathe her on our bed!!!  YAAAAAAAYYYYY, Daddy!!!

Here is a picture of Peanut in her newborn tub...(I know, she's so tiny!!!)
Here's a picture of Peanut in her new "Big Girl Tub"....
Hope you all have a great day!  Stay warm!

Mmmmm....Prunes!

We started yesterday off with a little bit of trouble.  My Peanut had to strain to go #2.  I was dreading what I had to do next...feed her prunes.  I thought she'd HATE them.
She LOVED them!!!  Isn't this the cutest "Prune Face" you've ever seen???

Have a great day!

New You Minestrone Recipe

Good Morning!

After many visitors, much cooking and LOTS of eating, I am ready for this fresh, NEW YEAR!  Wow, it's been an exhausting (but fun) past couple of weeks!!!

Chris is back to work.  Dylan is back to school.  Lil' Peanut and I are slowly getting back into our normal routine.

As mentioned in my previous post, our family is going to get into better shape for this New Year.  I don't like the term "dieting", and that's not really what we're doing anyway.  It's a LIFESTYLE change.  We can still have the food that we love, in smaller portions AND we will be a lot more active.

So far, I've done really well with it.  I have been getting on the treadmill (almost) daily and already feel better.  I'm already down 1 pound!!!  I know, not much, but remember...I don't want to lose any weight...I just want to get a little more toned.  However, with exercise, I am sure to drop a few.  That's fine by me.

Are you trying any new recipes?  I love a great soup packed with lots of veggies.  Here is a twist on minestrone soup that I found.  I have never had this soup with cabbage.  It sounds pretty darn good.

  • 4-6 cups vegetable stock (you can make your own with onions, celery and carrots)

  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans stewed tomatoes

  • 1 large potato, cubed

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 2-4 stalks celery, chopped

  • 2-4 carrots, chopped

  • 1 large head cabbage, finely chopped

  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning (or be brave and mix your own blend, like I do!)

  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans

  • 1 large red or green bell pepper, diced

  • 3 cups fresh green beans (you can use frozen too)

  • 1 large zucchini, sliced

  • 1 cup uncooked orzo pasta or small pasta of your choice, such as shells

  • pepper to taste

  • Basically, add the ingredients in order given and bring to soft boil.  Simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    More recipes coming!

Have a great day and stay warm!
